Rev. Joseph Lowery

Jimmy Carter Library

February 27, 2012, 7:00 P.M.

We are honored to join the Jimmy Carter Library in co-sponsoring a special appearance by a Civil Rights legend, Atlanta’s own The Rev. Dr. Joseph Lowery. His new book is ”Singing the Lord’s Song in a Strange Land,” and we urge you to make plans to come meet Dr. Lowery for this occasion. He will be interviewed on stage by Michael Julian Bond. Dr. Lowery has been a eyewitness to a remarkable history, from the violent beginnings of the Civil rights movement to the inauguration of the first African American President. His new book collects some of his most enduring speeches and messages from the last 50 years including the eulogy at Coretta Scott King’s funeral and the inauguration of President Obama. There will be copies of his book for sale and signing at this event. And this is a free program, no tickets or reservations required.
