We welcome the preeminent journalist and modern historian David Maraniss, winner of two Pulitzer Prizes, with his much-anticipated new biography, ”Barack Obama: The Story.” It is a deeply researched and brilliantly written generational biography of the President filled with fresh insights and revealing information, and it couldn’t be more timely. The book is based on hundreds of interviews including talks with President Obama in the Oval Office, and a trove of personal and official letters, journals, diaries and other documents. Maraniss is associate editor of The Washington Post, winner of the 1993 Pulitzer for National reporting and the 2007 Pulitzer for team reporting from the Virginia Tech shooting tragedy. The author of an award-winning biography of President Bill Clinton, he also has written biographies of Roberto Clemente and Vince Lombardi and ”The Marched Into Sunlight,” a book about Vietnam and the sixties.
