Atlanta and Rich’s have long been closely connected, and though the department store chain has undergone many changes and ownership shifts, it still has a rich history with the city. Author Jeff Clemmons’ talks about that amazing history in his new book, ”Rich’s: A Southern Institution.” The store goes all the way back to 1867 when Morris Rich opened a small dry goods store on what would become Peachtree Street in the struggling post-Civil War city. Within a century it became a retailing dynasty. The history is a fascinating one, and whether you are an old-timer or new to Atlanta, we think you won’t want to miss this delightful program. We’ll have books fro sale and signing. The Toco Hill-Avis G. Williams Library is at 1282 McConnell Dr. Decatur, 30033
