| This painting represents the dairy industry of Eatonton
in general and, more specifically, Wesley Chapel United
Methodist Church turned hay barn. The church structure
was replaced by a more modern building in the 1960s,
I believe; both structures still stand today, side by side,
on Hwy. 16 between Eatonton and Sparta.
"This painting represents fond memories I have of growing up in Putnam County. Growing up I saw cows almost every day. And the Wesley Chapel building, now barn, represents the long-standing presence of the Hicks family in Eatonton. My great-grandfather was pastor of the East Putnam charge, which included my own home church, Philadelphia U.M., as well as Wesley Chapel U.M. Church." - Travis Hicks |
