Michael Bishop is one of America's finest and most honored writers of science fiction and fantasy literature. Writing over four decades, he has produced more than 30 books, hundreds of short stories, won the highest awards for his work and had his books translated into a dozen languages. He has won two of the prestigious Nebula Awards, four Locus Awards and most recently a Shirlery Jackson Award for one of his short stories.
Michael Bishop was born November 12, 1945, in Lincoln, Nebraska, but he has many connections to the state of Georgia. He holds a BA (1965) and MA (1967) in English from the University of Georgia He taught briefly at UGA before leaving teaching to become a full-time writer in 1974. He was named Writer-in-Residence at LaGrange College in 1996, a position he still holds. He makes his home at nearby Pine Mountain.
